Though you have chosen to ask the fellow who is perhaps the single
most knowledgable person alive about tapers in Mr. Thramer, may we
fellow cane-nuts offer a suggestion or two even if we don't consider
ourselves storehouses of wisdom? If you're looking for a crisp, fast 8'

This is basically the Grayrock '96 Mystery Rod converted to three
piece. Notice the super-fine tips to protect light tippets, and the
slow swell from 80" to 86". The swell gives it a light in hand
feeling. I have used size 16 and 10 SuperZ style ferrules on the 8-10
of these I built. Their owners seem to like them quite well.
