Fished from 10:00 AM this morning until 1:30 PM. Cloudy and overcast, some rain. Used a #16 Barr Copper John in RED. 904-2, DT 4 F rod and line, 7 1/2 5X leader with 3' 5X Fluorocarbon added. This setup was from Barr's book that came out in 2007 of August. I got to Angie's and realized I had left my prime midge fly box at home in my fly tying case!!!

I guess it was fate, as I read about this setup last night in bed.

Got my first fish on the third cast! I never got more than 100 yds down the stream. Hooked about 15 -- netted 6, and lost the rest on the way back to the net. It still amazes me as to how they can get off with all of the pull going our way??? Basically fished the tailout of the riffles and one deep undercut bank.

Birds were very low on the water so I felt that there was a hatch but could not see anything. Trout were very aggressive. I was using my polypropylene yarn indicator from South Dakota last year. By the time I was done, the trout had demolished it from all of the hits it took. I never changed to a top fly because I was having enough hits as it was... J
Probably could have gone with a dry fly - emerger dropper setup.
