On May 23rd I fished Sand Lake in Florence county which was full of recently stocked trout. I caught 7 of them. Only one was the legal size, however.
An article in a Fox Valley paper says the DNR has stocked many lakes and rivers in Waupaca and Portage counties. They claim 80% of them are legal sized fish, but that wasn't the case at Sand Lake.
DNR says the fish do well in warm weather but habitat in the listed rivers and lakes will not sustain trout through the winter.
The trout at Sand lake were biting on anything. One old guy caught one on an average size spoon!
