You mentioned a Garrison 221 as one of your choices. Let me tell you about 
mine. I built it for steelhead but it is much too much rod for spring steelhead 
in the Great Lakes. I use it in the fall for king salmon. Load it up with a 9 
weight SA Steelhead taper fly line with 10 feet of Maxima leader tapered to 10 
pound test and have at it.

It is one powerful rod. I am just completing one beefed up to a 9 weight. 
Should be able to subdue a bulldozer with it.
